YEAR 9 OPTION CHOICES FOR SEPTEMBER 2010

As you will be aware, in September 2010 your child will begin his/her GCSE courses and will then be in Key Stage 4 of the National Curriculum. This can be a challenging time and many parents express a desire to know more about their child’s curriculum in Key Stage 4 and the choices they have to make about the available subjects.
With this in mind, may I invite you to an Option Information Evening on Thursday 11th February in the Main Hall at Lowe Hill. Children do not normally accompany their parents on this occasion. Please note the start time is 7.15pm. During the evening you will be moving from room to room to hear about different aspects of the Key Stage. This is after the Parents’ Evening on Thursday 28th January, where it is sensible to get initial advice from Subject Tutors.
After 11th February your child will be given an Options Booklet, from which they will then make a choice of courses for the following September.
The Option Choice Form then needs to be completed and this must be returned to school by Friday 19th March. Please note that all students will be seen individually about their option choices to make sure that the courses chosen are sensible and suitable.
